Cambridge Engineered Solutions (CES) is pleased to be the first metal belt manufacturer in the world to receive the Islamic Services of America’s (I.S.A.) Halal certification. By incorporating the Halal compliance system into manufacturing processes, Cambridge qualified the belts, as well as the process, to the I.S.A.’s stringent standards.
I.S.A. reviewed Cambridge’s production and materials at their headquarters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and once determined compliant, I.S.A. visited the Cambridge Engineered Solutions headquarters in Cambridge, Maryland, for a full-inspection of the manufacturing facilities. This onsite inspection verified that CES operations also met Halal standards.

Bangers ban in hundreds of schools
Pork is being banned from school dinners – even where the majority of parents have no religious objection to it.
Many Schools Do Not Offer Pork Options Now!
…And halal does not just involve meat…
Halal is a way of life and can encompass our entire Food Chain.
Head teachers are deciding for “cultural” & “religious” reasons to drop traditional sausages and ham from children’s lunches. In some instances Traditional Ham has been replaced by ‘Halal Turkey’ham’ and Traditional Pork or Beef Sausages are replaced with ‘halal chicken sausages with halal ‘ham’ flavouring’ or with ‘halal beef sausages’.
Here is a typical School Lunch with a ‘Turkey ‘Ham’ Sandwich…
Newham, London – HALAL PRIMARY SCHOOL advertises in this .pdf document ‘Free School Meals for Primary School Children.
Typical Menus are…
Typical UNNEEDED Halal Substitute Food can be…
[HALAL] Chicken Sausages in gravy with mashed potatoes
Vegetable Stir Fry with [HALAL] Quorn & Noodles
Spaghetti Bolognaise (Lamb) [HALAL LAMB]
[HALAL] Cheese & Tomato Pizza
[HALAL] Chocolate Sponge with [HALAL] Chocolate Sauce
What about the right of Christians & Sikhs – who are forbidden by their religions – to eat food that has been offered to a foreign god/idol?
Are Sikhs given a special abrogation from stunning so they can produce their meat in UK too? No.
Surely in Britain there should be NO Halal Primary Schools?
Yet this Newham Primary School list of Free HALAL Dinners – with no choice of traditional meat on the menu !
Again all this has been happening for the past couple of years by Stealth.
Dairy Products & Confectionery may contain halal bi-products, such as rennet; frozen food or fresh produce can be halal… Yes, even vegetables may be packaged and halal certified or may be in tins and halal certified. So many products have had their recipes changed to make them halal… they may include halal food additives or halal vitamins.
Do we think that Hindus should have religious rights? If your answer is yes then we should be against Halal being sold to all non-muslims, because Hindu’s do not wish to eat Halal, as it is against their own religious beliefs. Where are their Religious Rights? When are we going to see a STOP on the Halal Industry taking away our Freedom of Choice in Britain? Or will this carry on until Traditional British Food becomes a niche market in our country that has a 95%+ Non-Muslim Population??? Halal food is spreading throughout Britain. A London Daily Mail investigation found that Britain’s major supermarket chains, fast-food restaurants, even some hospitals and schools were serving halal food without telling those who were eating it.
Surely we should be protected by British Laws & Regulations???
Article 9 Human Rights Act. regarding Freedom of Conscience
This Act should give us the right to religious and secular freedom, i.e. to not be forced to participate in religious rites.
Dedicating this meat to a god violates this right: hence there is forced participation in another’s religion without consent.
Also Jews, Sikhs & Christians are specifically instructed not to eat this meat, so where is their religious freedom?
UK Human Rights blog
At Blackburn Central High School ALL Non-Muslim children are being given this HALAL or Vegetarian menu
So there is no real choice – if children do not want Muslim meat, then it is a Vegetarian diet or the option to bring in a Packed Lunch.
So No Traditional Hot Roast Dinners for Non-Muslims – now in many schools & colleges ALL Meals are halal
We have HALAL-ONLY SCHOOLS in Britain… WHY?
Anger over halal-only menus in schools
Haringey council in North London has issued “best practice” advice to all schools in its area to…
“Ban all pork products in order to cater for the needs of staff and pupils who are not permitted contact with these for religious reasons”.
In Tower Hamlets, East London, 85 out of 90 schools have ‘no pork’.
In Haringey’s infant, junior & primary schools, 37 out of 47 serve no pork.
Britain goes halal… but no one tells the public
BRIT KIDS FORCED TO EAT HALAL SCHOOL DINNERS
Muslim Meals for Primary Tots of all faiths
Philip Davies, the Conservative MP for Shipley, West Yorkshire, who has campaigned for clear labelling of halal and kosher meat in shops and restaurants, described the pork bans as “misguided political correctness”.
“Whilst I very much agree that pupils should be able to choose not to have pork, I believe it is totally wrong for schools to in effect force all pupils to abide by the religious beliefs of some by denying them the opportunity to choose to have pork,” he said.
“This is the type of misguided political correctness which builds up resentments which otherwise would not exist, and I very much hope these schools will change their stance and allow pupils a much more free choice.”
In the HALAL ONLY SCHOOLS – Bakery, Dairy & Confectionery products are affected too, as they must contain halal bi-products & halal additives and halal food colourings. Even vegetables are grown in halal bone-meal & halal compost under the strictest halal monitoring!
Ham & Pineapple Pizza is made with ‘Turkey Ham’ or ‘Chicken Ham’ which has a halal ‘ham’ flavour.
In addition to the compulsory use of halal certified products (to ensure no cross contamination), there is also the matter of Halal Services… Manufacturing Plants of all bread eg. Kingsmill & processed foods must be halal and monitored by Muslim Inspectors. Halal Flour, halal shortening, halal suet in pies & puddings.
Halal Ethyl Vanillin: synthetic vanilla flavoring. It is used for soft drinks, ice creams
and baked goods. Dairy Products must be from Halal Certified producers eg. Dairy Crest is HFA Certified. Many well known Brands of Dairy Products are now halal certified, but this is not shown on the carton. We look & find that many recipes of well known brands have been tampered with – Eg. ingredients like rennet have been replaced with halal rennet in yoghurts and cheeses – Plus no halal sign is clearly displayed on the product… so how will muslims know to buy it???
All this involves extra costs AND the halal certification involves an annual fee… and another fee if you want to display a logo to say your school kitchen is halal.
Plus these Halal Only School Kitchens and Food Processing Plants must also be regularly Monitored by Muslims and rules must be strictly adhered to eg.No alcohol can be used in the cleaning products…
Only halal Cleaning Products can be used. Another Cleaning Contract??? Delivery in Halal Van?
It can even mean that my children’s School Dinners are sold in Halal Packaging? Another Contract?
Stewart Houston, the chief executive of the National Pig Association, which represents commercial producers, also criticised the bans.
He said: “It is disappointing that schools can not be sufficiently organised to give children a choice of meat.”
Sausages and roast pork are staples of a British diet and children enjoy eating them.
Marlborough College in Wiltshire has admitted that while halal chicken is usually only served to Muslims, it had ‘occasionally’ served it to all pupils
Oxford University students secretly served Muslim halal meat
My Family do not like animal cruelty, so we want to avoid anything that contains Halal Gelatine, Halal Rennet or Halal Lecithin etc., as it is unclear whether these halal additives are a product of an artificial halal process or are animal bi-products which like the halal meat all come from animals which have been barbarically slaughtered, as they have not been properly stunned unconscious prior to having their throats slit! Even the most lax halal authority the HFA (Halal Food Authority) will ensure that animals are only Stunned to Immobilise, for the benefit of the slaughterer, not to ensure good animal welfare. That is clear on their website here: Quote in their words…
“Electric stun can be controlled like a dimmer switch on the wall for the immobilisation of the birds and the animals. This is working well…”
Halal Gelatine is usually made from calves that have been ritually slaughtered without stunning.
QUOTE FROM HALAL DICTIONARY:
Halal Gelatine: is a protein extracted from animal by-products, such as skin, bones, cartilage and used in a variety of food products. If made from vegetable, microbiological source or animal slaughtered in Islamic way, they are Halal.
PROTECT BRITISH JOBS! It is also clear that the Halal Industry marginalises British Workers, because ONLY devout Muslims are allowed to Slaughter the meat.
Furthermore when we analyse where this tax payers money goes that is paying for these contracts… it seems clear according to the Qur’an, that as we pay for halal food we are indirectly paying zakat tax which is paid to Islamic ends by all devout Muslims.
So how does this benefit Britain in these times of austerity???
Where does the Qur’an say this Zakat should go? How should Zakat be used?
QUOTE from Surah 9:60
‘Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakah] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler – an obligation [imposed] by Allah.’
What does this mean… well it is explained in the Link and clearly the only ones benefiting are Muslims.
My biggest objection is that an eighth of this Zakat Tax is directly paid to fund Islamic Freedom Fighters!
‘The fighter (mujahid) will be given as salary what will be enough for him. If he needs to buy arms or some other supplies related to the war effort, Zakat money should be used provided the effort is to raise the banner of Islam.’
See that quote towards the end of this article…
Finally, the most obvious reason that we should uphold British traditions and Judeo-Christian values is that Muslims Do NOT Require Halal Food in Non-Muslim Countries!
IMPORTANT: If there is no halal available then a Muslim is allowed to eat non-halal food.
Islam has laws regarding which foods can and cannot be eaten and also on the proper method of slaughtering an animal for consumption, known as dhabihah.
However if there is no halal food available then a Muslim is allowed to eat non-halal food.
Surah 2:173 states: “…if there is no other choice, …there is no sin in him.”
Surah 5:5 is the abrogated text that makes this even clearer when it says QUOTE:
Surat Al-Mā’idah (The Table Spread) – سورة المائدة
‘This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture [People of the Book – Jews & Christians] is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them.’
According to what LAW is it Lawful to eat all good foods if halal is not available?
Answer = According to SHARIAH LAW!
Only 3-5% of British Consumers are Muslim and want to follow Sharia Law… so we have a duty to uphold British traditions and Judeo-Christian values for te 95-97% majority who do not want of need halal..
Surely we, as the payers of Council Tax in this borough, should have a say about what our children can choose to eat at school. Religious foods and Special Needs foods should be an option – not forced on every child… and these minorities have the choice of bringing a packed lunch.

BOYCOTT HALAL – HALAL IS WRONG FOR SO MANY REASONS!
One expects to find this RED TRACTOR Food Standards Authority (FSA) logo on foods that have been well prepared to a good standard… but sadly it seems that this logo is now the sign of what is probably Halal Ritually Slaughtered meat according to all the largest British supermarket chains.
This was the disturbing findings of The Asian Tribune headlines on 24th July 2012
You would think looking at the logo that meat sold with this assured food standard is 100% British, but on contacting all major supermarkets, I was shocked to learn that in fact the standard means nothing and we are in fact eating Halal meat blessed with Islamic prayers and the animal having its throat cut until the blood drains out.
In some cases it takes as long as six minutes for the animal to die even when stunned.
Compassion in World Farming (CIWF) blasts Red Tractor on welfare
“Red Tractor assures little more than compliance with minimum legislation,”
said CIWF chief executive Philip Lymbery in this article…
The Red Tractor symbol was first put on Halal Meat when JANAN MEATS, one of the Leading Suppliers of Halal Meat, was Awarded the Red Tractor.
Janan Meats is part of the Pitstock Group which is controlled by Naved Syed – a very influential muslim in this country who is also on the EBLEX (Eblex – The organisation for the English beef and sheep industry) Halal Steering Committee along with supermarket representatives eg. from ASDA… all hell bent on distributing halal meat mainstream in Britain & Europe & beyond.
Janan Meats is first independent abattoir to gain Red Tractor Award
Freya, nominated by her mum, Julie, was chosen as the winner because she supports her busy mum and dad in the kitchen and loves to cook Sunday lunch for friends and family.
“Freya loves to shop for her ingredients, and always makes a point of picking products with the Red Tractor logo on it, she knows this means the food has been produced to good standards.”
When walking into any British supermarket they all pride themselves on selling British products where possible , this can be seen in any meat section at Asda,Tesco and Waitrose to name a few.
But do we know what we are eating?
To help us we see logo’s like Red Tractor which guarantees:
– High standards of food safety and hygiene
– High Standards of animal welfare
– High Standards of Environmental protection
You would think looking at the logo that meat sold with this assured food standard is 100% British, but on contacting all major supermarkets, I was shocked to learn that in fact the standard means nothing and we are in fact eating Halal meat blessed with Islamic prayers and the animal having its throat cut until the blood drains out. This practice of the Red Tractor logo appearing on halal meat is now common place according to Tescos who says…
“We sell Halal meat in our stores to meet customer demand and to demonstrate that everyone is welcome at Tesco.”
Better still BOYCOTT TESCO & write to them to let them know why.

We UK Consumers appeal to those in power to authorise the writing of a suitable policy that will make Labelling ALL Religiously Slaughtered meat a Legal Requirement by Law, so that we all know what we are buying & eating in plain English. We UK Consumers want ALL Ritually Slaughtered Meat & Bi-Products LABELLED with a simple ‘RS’ no matter how it is stunned or what its source is. ‘RS’ can also stand for ‘Religious Standard’ and could therefore be used on ALL Products that come under any Religious Standard.
Anywhere & anything associated with Ritual Slaughter or a Religious Standard needs labelling ‘RS’ so we fully understand what we are choosing to buy or eat.
The UK needs Consumer confidence to be restored and this will only happen when there is more transparency in Labelling of ‘RS’ food, goods & services.
We also fully support the EU Parliament’s move to Label ALL meat that has been obtained by Slaughter without stunning in the Food Information Regulation (FIR).

Since the turn of the 21st century, there have been efforts to create organizations, such as the Halal Food Authority, that certify food products as halal for muslim consumers.
“Halal” is an Arabic word meaning “lawful” or “permissible”, and the term not only covers food and drink, but also to all matters of daily life for muslims.
When it comes to halal food, most people think of meat foods only, but muslims aim to ensure that all foods, particularly processed foods, pharmaceuticals, and non-food items like cosmetics, are also halal. Frequently, these products contain animal by-products or other ingredients that are not permissible for Muslims to eat or use on their bodies unless the animal was Ritually Slaughtered.
This image shows the different sectors where there are active halal organisations.
Throughout the world there are many different Halal Certification Boards in different countries often with diverse standards or criteria for judging if a product or service is halal compliant. They seek to certify services, products & chains this will involve sectors, brands & corporations.
Halal Authorities use different unique signs like these ones in use in UK
Halal Services are food processing plants, meat cutting plants, mainstream manufacturers of soups, grains, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, prepared foods & other products, as well as hotels, restaurants, airlines, sporting venues, hospitals and other institutions.
Halal Products are linked to wide variety of organisations, from the small local traders & businesses, to the huge multinational companies that export globally and market their products under particular Brand Names that will signify their association to those companies eg.Nestle.
Chains are Companies that may have franchises or branches within one or more different countries e.g. Subway, KFC.
In addition muslims look to change & control sectors involved in in finance, legal, media etc.. to bring them under halal compliance.
They will look at the company’s that are manufacturing &/or distributing products e.g. Dairy, Confectionery & Sauce products contain additives & flavourings along with the main ingredients, which may lead to Companies, Manufacturing Plants or/and the products themselves becoming halal certified.
This worldwide halal organisation is being driven by the World Halal Forum (WHF) they are highly organised and well financed.
The World Halal Forum (WHF)
The World Halal Forum (WHF) was established in 2006 and has become an integral part in the development of a viable global Halal industry worldwide, by promoting the concept of Halal for the benefit of the global market. WHF provides a global Forum for the halal industry, with regular meetings worldwide, for government players in the Halal market who have had intentions from the outset to have a comprehensive global reach, whilst at the same time being a focal point for stakeholders.
In early 2011, WHF has been transformed into a Not For Profit entity (LOL ANOTHER CHARITY?) driven for and by the industry, working closely with IHI Alliance, the global Halal authority. The WHF Charter is recognised by the Organisation of The Islamic Conference (OIC).
See their latest news here: http://www.worldhalalforum.org/
WHF World Halal Forum
See all the well known brands they have already influenced… HSBC & Colgate can be seen clearly in that image.
The WHF programme includes the WHF Industry Dialogues, WHF Roundtable and World Halal Forum Europe making it one of the most influential platforms driving the Halal industry forward internationally. The WHF CEO Round Table series is another initiative in-line with the World Halal Forum Charter and will assist and support the development of world-class Halal industry standards covering the entire value chain.
From the outset the World Halal Forum has adopted this World Halal Forum Charter which is a set of guidelines and goals that compliment Malaysia‟s global Halal Hub ambitions.
QUESTION So how does WHF affect Non-Islamic Countries like Britain?
ANSWER In 2009 WHF makes UK a ‘PILOT PROJECT’ and in 2010 WHF send Halal MAINSTREAM in UK
Sadly, in 2009, the World Halal Forum “chose” the UK as it’s ‘pilot project’ to roll out halal to the mainstream consumer:
See especially pages 7, 15 and 25 of this report:
[This report takes a while to download because it’s now buried deep in the ‘system’!]
Then in 2010 WHF said that it will QUOTE: “Take Halal Mainstream in UK and then Europe”
The Reason? See pages 15 and 24, where the WHF ‘chose’ the UK as it’s Pilot Project to send halal mainstream!
NOTE no one from the UK was at this meeting… This was not agreed by the British people…
This is BEING IMPOSED ON US & WE DO NOT LIKE IT OR WANT MUSLIM MEAT!
See pages 15 and 24, where the WHF ‘chose’ the UK as it’s Pilot Project to send halal mainstream!
(You may have to wait for it to load… they do not want people to see this (but I have copies downloaded!)
In UK this LICENCE of Exemption was already in place this should have protected us from the massive over-production of halal meat that we now have in the UK… but it didn’t!
The Licence from exemption from full stunning under UK law states quite clearly that it is an offence to slaughter by a religious method if it is known that the meat is not intended for the consumption of those religions who ‘require’ it. It clearly states ,in that marked paragraph, that this exemption to allow unstunned meat is for the Jews to produce kosher meat for Jews & for Muslim slaughtermen to perform their ritual slaughter to provide halal meat for muslims –
Nowhere does it state that this exemption can be used for mainstream supply of RS unstunned meat.
Halal Ritual Slaughter has really lowered the standards of Animal Welfare in our abattoirs… the vast over-production of halal is causing us to abandon all civilized rules for agriculture & animal husbandry!
Muslims have found a loophole which is allowing them to call Electro-immobilisation – ‘Stun-to-Immobilise’ – – and from this people assume they mean Electrical Stunning which IT IS NOT!
Stun-to-Immobilise is performed by using Ultra Low Amperage Stunning… for halal ritual slaughter the amperage is turned to the lowest setting!
Electro-immobilisation is very cruel.
The animal is stunned just to immobilize it it is still fully conscious, but unable to move or vocalise it pain.
Read more about Electro-immobilization here…
WE HAVE A PROBLEM!
RITUALLY SLAUGHTERED MEAT IS BEING SOLD TO US UNLABELLED AS SUCH
Find out more about that here…
THIS IS THE PROBLEM: Newly formed muslim group ANSA (Association of Non Stun Abattoirs) was formed to represent the voice of the halal meat industry. Acting as the voice for the Non-Stun Halal Abattoirs say, “ANSA only accepting 100% non stun abattoirs “
QUOTE from ANSA website:
“Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came as the final prophet to teach the whole world, including Britain and EU and DEFRA and FSA, on the best behaviour in all aspects of life including animal “slaughter”. We should be “exporting” his HUMANE Halal Prophetic method to all non-Muslims and to DEFRA/FSA and the EU and not to be “importing” their “lost wrong ways of life” in a lot of things including their cruel animal “slaughter”.”
QUESTION: How are all our well known Brands eg. Kingsmill Bread, becoming Halal Certified?
Last year in UK the HFA aimed at Allied Bakeries and began by getting their Walthamstow Plant Halal Certified that will now be closely audited monitored & inspected by the HFA (Halal Food Authority). See them listed here…
This regular HFA audit now has to be paid for by Allied Bakeries, who will have probably been promised many benefits like wider distribution and expansion to new muslim markets. Ingredients used in the Aliied Bakery Plant now have to meet the HFA Standard. All cleaning products used in the plant must be halal too and not contain alcohol the requirements for halal compliance go on & on… and can include muslim workers only in certain roles… which marginalises Non-Muslim British workers.
This move on Allied Bakeries towards halal compliance affected 4 Brands Sunblest, Burgen, Allinsonand Kingsmill… but only Kingsmill (which involves 18 different types of bread) is showing the Halal Mark on its packaging which adds another regularly paid additional cost.
So how can this be profitable with all these extra costs?
Many of these halal organisations are Registered Religious Charities and somehow have managed to claim that they are Non-Profit making, so get various Tax & VAT exemptions…
Yes… this will affect our economy as money is channelled off towards Islamic aims! Not what we need in these times of austerity is it?
NOTE that Allied Bakeries is one of the UK’s leading Bakery Businesses one of three divisions of Allied Milling and Baking, which in turn is a part of Associated British Foods (ABF) plc, a major international business with a turnover of £11.1bn and close to 102,000 employees working in 46 countries. In the UK, well-known ABF brands include: Twinings, Silver Spoon, Primark, Ryvita, Ovaltine, Patak’s and Jordans Cereals. They supply Bread to Schools… which will now be halal and there is no mention of this massive paradigm shift on their website… Nowhere does it say that Allied Bakeries is now a halal compliant company.
How do I know all this?
I was on the phone to them every week as all these changes were made last year complaining… but it was all to no avail.
The only way we can show our dissatisfaction is to BOYCOTT HALAL PRODUCTS & SERVICES this will reduce demand and slow production.
BOYCOTT ALLIED BAKERIES PRODUCTS and write & tell them we are doing so & why!
Vegetarians have contacted us and are specifically concerned about how Milk & Sauces are affected…

VOLAC INTERNATIONAL Processors, procurers, manufacturers and distributors of Halal Whey Protein Isolate and Lactose Powder at named plant

Texts adopted Wednesday, 4 July 2012 – Strasbourg
Strategy for the protection and welfare of animals
49. Points to the concern among European citizens, expressed through their petitions to Parliament, about abuse of the derogations for un-stunned slaughtering in the EU; is particularly concerned that the current derogation for un-stunned slaughter is abused to a large extent in some Member States, to the detriment of animal welfare, of farmers and of consumers; urges the Commission to accelerate its evaluation on the labelling of meat from animals slaughtered without stunning and to present its report before 2013, following its commitment to undertake this evaluation in 2011; highlights that the question of consumers not being informed as to whether or not the meat they are buying is from animals slaughtered without stunning is an issue of great public interest for reasons of both transparency and animal suffering; underlines, however, that labelling is not an alternative to proper enforcement as it can only guide consumers if the information provided is verified and correct;
50. Stresses the need to establish more effective protection measures for animals which are exported from the EU to third countries for slaughter;
See also the importance of 67.
67. Recalls that the Parliament considers that such a Framework Law should not prevent producers from introducing voluntary systems which go beyond EU rules, and believes that those systems should also be science based and could be promoted by certified and cohesive labels; calls on the Commission to build on its communication COM(2009)0584 by producing a study, if appropriate accompanied by legislative proposals, on EU-wide labelling schemes for meat and dairy products, aimed at informing consumers about the farming methods used, and their impact on the welfare of animals, to achieve the maximum effective and consistent transparency and communication to consumers;

Halal on the menu for Olympics
Nature Valley – has a tiny Halal Certification mark on the back…
are now to be the Official Cereal Bars of the 2012 Olympics!
The tiny HFA (Halal Food Authority) halal certification mark has joined the kosher mark which is already on the packet.
WHY is there no mention in the advertising that the bars are certified halal by the Halal Food Authority?
Instead it clearly says on the front of the packet the the SUPPLIER of this product is the 2012 Olympics!
WHY CHOOSE A HALAL PRODUCT to be the Official 2012 Olympics product for TEAM GB?

High-quality halal meat will be on the menu for Olympic athletes after Games officials approved The European Halal Development Agency’s Standard for all halal products.

TWO CAUSES FOR CONCERN REGARDING MORRISONS
1. MORRISONS have instructed their Meat Departments NOT put Meat Codes on Lamb or Pork or Chicken or Turkey… in fact only their Beef now displays the EU Meat Code.
WHY are Morrisons leaving the Meat Codes off of most of their packaged meat???
TODAY I have been told by the Food Standards Authority (FSA) that this breaks the EU Regulations,
which state that ALL Packaged Meat MUST carry the EU Meat Code & Country of Slaughter.
If anyone doubts this, or if you just want to have your say to Simon Tudor, who is the person at the FSA who is responsible for halal, but admits very little… Tel: 0207 276 8339.
Here is an example of how Morrisons puts the EU Meat Code on their Beef (ONLY)
2. This morning I have found out from one of our Members that some MORRISONS Branches are selling LAMB Meat Code 6057
This 6057 Meat Code means that the meat is from Randall Parker Foods, Andover
… A HALAL CERTIFIED SLAUGHTERHOUSE & CUTTING PLANT!
WHY are Morrisons selling meat from a Halal Slaughterhouse & a Halal Cutting Plant???
RANDALL PARKER FOODS clearly say on their website…
All our Halal lamb products are guaranteed to have been produced and processed in accordance with Islamic rites as well as our own high animal welfare standards. We are approved by the Halal Food Authority and we have been producing Halal products for many years. We are an established and reliable producer of Halal lamb for both the home and international markets.
Our processing is carried out by dedicated and fully qualified Halal slaughtermen with supervision by our own welfare team and UK Government veterinarians.
We implement strict codes of practice and policies to protect both animal welfare and the Halal standard.
We acknowledge the application of Islamic rules and principles may differ between communities and we will be happy to discuss the opportunities we have to meet your requirements.
It is vital to us that our Muslim consumers can buy and enjoy with total peace of mind.

RING MORRISONS HQ & COMPLAIN – 0845 6116111
Careful who you give you details to – I have crossed paths with Muslims there in the past -notably Madge Farid who was most rude. Also the Customer Care Manager, Claire Thornton told me that Daniel Armstrong is a Manager, but today I found out from Mohammad that he is not – he is actually working under Claire!
WHY cant Morrisons’ Staff be straight with me when I ring?
I aim to put all this in writing to…
Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC,
Chief Executive: Mr Dalton Philips,
Tel: 01274 261000, 0845 611 6111,
ALSO Ring Your Local Branch and Tell Meat Dept. these two things…
All meat should show Meat Codes & to watch out for rogue packets of meat that are wrapped differently from usual -especially Meat Code No.6057
Find your Local Morrisons Branch Tel.No. by adding your postcode to their Store Finder here:
You may also want to complain to DEFRA about the overproduction of halal meat as I did today. Tel: 08459 335577
I spoke to Geoff Webdale who’s been responsible for Animal Welfare in England since 2007
I told him that some of my Members are Farmers, who have changed abattoirs, because they couldn’t bear to see their cattle literally climbing the walls with their heads half hanging off.
Geoff cold-heartedly said,
“Well that shouldn’t be happening – they should have been tethered to hold them still!”
That just about sums the situation up really –
Does anyone care enough in Britain to stop this outdated 7th Century barbarity in our 21st Century abattoirs?
I thought Morrisons cared… until today.
The Care Team Manager, Claire Thornton gave me the distinct impression that she is fed up with hearing from me (I last rang just before Easter).
I told her that not labelling any meat properly with Meat Codes was against the EU Regulations, but she said Morrisons would not have made that move without checking it thoroughly first.
I also reported that we know they are selling unlabelled halal lamb in some stores. Claire said –
“We do not sell any halal meat, other than New Zealand Lamb, which is clearly labelled halal.”
I replied saying –
“No… what you are probably selling is the cheap cast off halal lamb, that has failed the halal inspection, by having a blemish… or maybe there was a spillage… so it is rejected and called haram; …but has still been faced to Mecca, dedicated to Allah & Ritually Slaughtered – probably without stunning – certainly without adequate stunning.
Claire made no comment.
I asked Claire to ring me back when she finds out about the need for proper labelling.
Claire refused to ring me back, but promised to send me an email within 4 working days.
When I rang back in the afternoon to tell them that Meat Codes on all Packaged Meat was not an option, Claire Thornton was unavailable to speak to me, but I was reminded that she would email me.
I have had a soft spot for Morrisons in the past, as they are the only supermarket that say they refuse to sell halal… but this is the umpteenth time I have found them out.
So I hope you will all remind Claire Thornton that we are all checking the Meat Codes at Morrisons in the hope that we find meat from one of their own traditional abattoirs, for example:
2092 Farmers Boy Bradford, West Yorkshire
I spent five hours in all on the phone and finished off at 4:30pm by ringing TRADING STANDARDS, as advised by my MP and by DEFRA and by the FSA.
TRADING STANDARDS Tel: 0845 40405 (where I ring most days to give an update on more products that I am finding that are Certified Halal, but not labelled as such.)
Today it was MORRISONS and NATURE VALLEY that I brought to the attention of TRADING STANDARDS.
I heard this morning on BBC News that Nature Valley – which has a tiny Halal Certification mark on the back… are now to be the Official Cereal Bars of the 2012 Olympics!
WHY is there no mention in the advertising that the bars are certified halal by the Halal Food Authority?
WHY CHOOSE A HALAL PRODUCT? Oh Yes… I seem to remember this news item published in January 2010…
